CSGS seeks to address issues of gender and sexuality through scholarship, research, and activism with an interdisciplinary approach. The Centre emphasizes the intersectionality of approaches, and aims to cover ideas, scholars, and activists from a wide range of subjects, both within and outside the University setting, thus allowing us to cross-fertilise our currently disparate fields of interest. While locating itself in a larger global discourse, the Centre will focus on generating content and conversations specific to the Indian context, and more broadly to the Indian sub-continent. In addition to its endeavours to generate original research and activist material, CSGS also hopes to become a one-stop-repository of all academic and popular content being produced in and about India. The Centre promotes scholarship that stems from and in turn affects the ground realities of the everyday lives of people.
