The Limits of Sexuality Education

Speaker: Ketaki Chowkhani with Arunima Theraja

Who is sexuality education aimed at? How can desire and romance be reimagined centering masculinity and adolescence, beyond a narrative of trauma and rights?

CSGS invited Ketaki Chowkhani to explore the process of defining adolescence and sexuality within institutions like the State, religion, and the school, and the limits of a sexuality education within these bounds, with the launch of her book ‘The Limits of Sexuality Education: Love, Sex, and Adolescent Masculinities in India’ (Routledge, 2024). The book presents an adolescent perspective on sexuality education, looks at adolescent love from the school teachers’ perspective, and tries to understand a teacher’s negotiations with student romance.
