Women’s Reservation Bill: The Journey and the Direction

The Women’s Reservation Bill, or the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, was unanimously passed by both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in September 2023. The panel will discuss the history of the Bill, and the contribution of the Women’s Movement in keeping the fight for representative rights front and forward. We will explore several caveats of the Bill and their implications for the struggle for power by women across various social, cultural, and economic strata of Indian society and also discuss the Bill’s media coverage and its impact on public discourse.
