A doctorate in literature and a trained Kathak dancer, Ulka Mayur is a versatile artist. She has been working as a storyteller for over ten years, presenting folklores, myths, sufi tradition stories, contemporary tales and original stories using elements of theatre, music and dance. Her storytelling performances for children and adults have been staged at many eminent educational institutions, libraries, museums, art galleries and literary festivals. Ulka has written and directed much-celebrated plays like Cast Off All Shame, Ballad of Desires, I- Cloud and Tik Tak Tales. She has directed music videos, digital shows as well as has written shows for prime television and OTT networks. Due to her extensive experience in research, writing and direction, Ulka is often commissioned by organisations to create bespoke shows.
She is the co-founder of an art and entertainment company Story Circus as well as founder and festival director of Athah Story Festival. Ulka has received awards like Udgam Women’s Achievers Awards and Special Achievement Award by Vishwa Hindi Akademi.
