Dilli? Delhi or Dehli? or Dehleez? Isn’t that where the city’s name comes from? A threshold?A city that was the entry point into the fertile basins of Ganga and Yamuna; a matter of geography that shaped much else through the city’s history. But then as we know it is also a city of excesses. A city that actually does not like the dehleez in many matters and some, abides by them wholesale. Why this contradiction? And what is the relationship of the city to the many intersecting dehleez of the sub-continent?
The performance focused on these many intersections and is told through some larger and smaller experiences of Avatari.
